Svadhisthana, Sacral Chakra
The Sacral Chakra is the second chakra, located about three inches below the naval. Svadhisthana translates to "your own place," or "dwelling place of the self." This chakra is the center of pleasure and when this energy is healthy, it brings a powerful and natural feeling of intimacy (into-me-I-see) to the individual. Life becomes joyous and bright when balanced, and ideas of passion and intimacy are seen as pleasurable and natural to bring a feeling of happiness to your body and spirit.
This chakra corresponds to our emotions, feelings, relationships and connection, enjoyment, expression of sexuality and sensual pleasure & creativity. The sacral chakra is associated with the realm of emotions. It's particularly active in our sexuality and the expression of our sensual desires. Balancing this chakra allows us to feel the world in and around us, for our feeling of well-being. It supports personal expansion and the formation of identity through relating to others and the world, and characterized by movement and flow in our emotions. Balanced Svadhisthana helps us become passionate, present in our bodies, sensual, creative, connected with our feelings, emotionally stable and bring more feelings of joy into our human experience.
Imbalances could include the following: dependency, co-dependency, feelings of guilt and shame, internal pain, being ruled by your emotions or feeling numb to them, insecurity with oneself, overindulgence in sexual obsession or lack of sexual desire or satisfaction. Physical issues may include: excessive urination or other flows of fluids, incontinence, lower back pain, edema or stagnation of bodily fluids.
