Vishuddha, Throat Chakra
Our Throat Chakra is the fifth chakra, located at the center of the neck. Vishuddha, means "pure" or "purification." The function of the Throat chakra is driven by the principle of expression and communication. Through the throat, sound is propagated into the air and its vibration can be felt not just in our ears, but also in our entire body. This chakra is associated with expression, the ability to speak your personal truth, to speak up for yourself, communication as verbal or non, or external/internal communication, realization of purpose and sense of timing. Vishudda emphasizes on expression of your truth and purpose, projecting creativity into the world according to its perfect form or authenticity. A function of the throat chakra is to connect you to Spirit. Opening this chakra helps align your vision with reality and release pressure that may affect the heart chakra. It is said to hold the blueprint or perfect template of the other dimensions of the body.
The main gift of the Throat chakra is accepting your originality, expressing your authentic voice and speaking your truth. The energy of this chakra allows you to seek knowledge that is true, beyond limitations of time and space, beyond cultural and family conditioning. The "way of the Throat chakra" is the way of inspired creativity, seeking and sharing of truth. It is the way of standing up for what you believe, saying no when needed and being open and honest in your words.
Imbalances with the Throat Chakra include: speaking too much or inappropriately, lack of control over one's speech, timidity, introversion, gossiping, verbal aggression/abuse, inability to truly listen to others, small voice/voicelessness, inability to speak your truth, inability to say what you really mean, not being able to keep secrets or keep your word/integrity, telling lies and false truths, excessive secretness or shyness, inability to speak, lack of connection with purpose in life. A few physical issues may include hypothyroidism, lymph congestion, stiff neck, shoulder tension, ear infections, sore throat or chronic upper respiratory infection.
